Best Apex Legends Weapons List – All Guns, Damage, & Stats – What’s a first-person action shooter without guns? By now, if you don’t know what Apex Legends is, are you even really alive? For those of us who are zombies, Apex Legends is a battle royale style first person hero shooter. It was developed by Respawn and published by Electronic Arts. In its first month of release, it already has amassed over 25 million concurrent users. So it’s extremely popular.

To answer the opening question: a first-person shooter without guns isn’t a first person shooter at all. In terms of weapons and guns, Apex Legends may not be Borderlands but it packs a pretty ample selection of weapons. The problem with too much variety is that it gets hard to pick the best option for you. There’s always a sense of FOMO and anxiety. You wonder if you’re not missing out on anything better by settling on what you’ve chosen.

Funny how this is true for both romantic relationships and gaming. It’s probably true for most things in life. Unfortunately, there isn’t a good guide to help you through your choices in life but we’re here to provide you with a guide for Apex Legends’ weapons and guides. We’ll be discussing the best options in each category, going over their stats as well their pros and cons.

If you’re familiar with most first-person shooters, you’ll understand that each gun fits into its own category or class. Apex Legends is no different. Guns in Apex Legends are categorized as either Pistols, SMGs, LMGs, Assault Rifles, Sniper Rifles or Shotguns.  Each weapon also has a tier. We’ll be giving you a top three/two list for each weapon class. Let’s get started.

Top 3 Pistols

  1. Wingman

wingman pistol

This Smith & Wesson .500 like pistol packs the heaviest punch out all pistols. If you want to feel like Clint Eastwood in “Dirty Harry”, then this should be your go-to pistol. Most pistols tend to be short-range weapons but this gun does damage from nearly any distance.

Some gamers may take issue with its heavy recoil and slow firing – It also has very low accuracy. Since it’s a revolver, it’s limited to only six bullets. But it deals the most damage of any handgun in Apex Legends.

  1. RE:45 Auto

RE-45 Auto

If the Wing Man makes you feel like Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry, this gun will make you feel like him in High Plains Drifter. It’s a fast shooting pistol that deals plenty of damage in close range. Although it uses light rounds, it still packs a heavy recoil. So its fine for close quarter combat but you’ll be better off using another weapon for long distances.

  1. P2020

P2020

This is basically your standard pistol. You’ll recognize it from Titanfall. It uses a ten round magazine. It’s great to use as your early starter pistol but as you advance in the game, we’d recommend that you replace with something a bit stronger. The recoil and aim aren’t bad but the damage leaves a lot to be desired.

Top 3 SMGs

  1. Prowler Burst PDW

Prowler Burst PDW

Not only does this weapon dish out heavy damage but it also has an unbelievable rate of fire, once you attach a Selectfire Reciever and modify it a bit. By default, it bursts three rounds. What’s even more insane is that it has high accuracy that does not seem to decrease with its rate of fire, especially after you attach a Selectfire Receiver. It’s great for close quarter combat. You can just use it to clear out building and mow down your enemies like John Rambo.

  1. R-99

r-99

This is a fairly standard SMG for Apex legends. It’s not too hot, not too cold. This doesn’t imply that it’s average. It has a fast rate of fire and uses pretty light ammo. R-99 holds up to eighteen rounds in its standard magazine. It also has an iron-sight which makes it a great short range option for mowing down targets on the move.

  1. Alternator

Alternator SMG

The alternator is fairly slow firing. So slow that it can be easily mistaken for a pistol. It uses light ammo and can hold up to sixteen shots in a single standard magazine. The alternator is pretty middle of the road. It also has very high recoil for the very limited damage that it dishes out. This should be a plan C weapon. Find something better as soon as you can.

Top 2 LMGs

*Note: There were only two LMGs to choose from in Apex legends at the writing of this article

  1. M600 Spitfire

M600 Spitfire

The Devotion may be the most popular light machine gun around the Apex Legend community but the M600 Spitfire is the arguably the most pragmatic machine gun out of the two. Although the Devotion has a higher rate of fire, the M600 Spitfire is easier to handle and quicker to use because it doesn’t have a wind-up time. What makes the M600 Spitfire amazing is it has high accuracy and it dishes out relatively decent damage to enemies. It also has some very manageable recoil although it uses heavy ammo. And it’s fully automatic.

  1. Devotion

Devotion LMG

The reason the Devotion comes in second despite its popularity and infamy is that it takes Energy Rounds which are pretty much rare and it takes time to wind up to its full rate of fire. Despite this, it’s got surprisingly high accuracy and deals a lot of damage. It’s a really fun weapon to use. We definitely recommend that you try it at least once.

Top 3 Shotguns

  1. Mastiff Shotgun

mastiff shotgun

Placing this as the best shotgun on our list might be eye-raising due to how rare the Mastiff is and how it fires ammunition that cannot be replenished or replaced. However, it’s almost understandable how rare it is due to it being slightly OP. It’s one of the most powerful weapons in the game. It has a huge kickback due to its sheer power. As transient and rare as it is, if you get the chance to pick it up, do not hesitate.

  1. Mozambique

Mozambique Shotgun

This is basically a pocket shotgun. It was once classified as a pistol but because of its range and power, it’s been firmly re-categorized as a shotgun. It’s great for close quarter combat but even so, because it’s a lower tier, it’s no replacement for an actual shotgun. So if you find yourself looting up, we recommend that you use an actual shotgun.

  1. Peacekeeper

peacekeeper

The peacekeeper works like a standard pump action shotgun. Damage vary situation to situation. Since it’s a lever action shotgun, it blasts out a total of 11 pallets per blast. Each pallet deals at least 10 damage points to the body and 15 to the head. You can also attach a Precision Choke which will improve both its accuracy and power. Despite its placement on this list, it’s still one of our favourites and it’s very easy to acquire.

Top 3 Assault Rifles

  1. VK-47 Flatline

VK-47 Flatline

This gun is very similar to the real world AK-47, we suspect that it’s obviously an ode to it or was inspired by it, even though it looks nothing like it. Either way, it’s fully automatic and deals some of the highest damage in the AR category. It’s a great all-rounder, with impressive accuracy and stability. It flourishes in mid to long range combat. It has a high fire-rate and minimal recoil. It’s definitely one of our favourite guns in the game and it’s worth a slot on any inventory.

  1. Hemlock Burst AR

Hemlok Burst AR

Arguably one of the strongest assault rifles in the game due to its precision and damage. It’s great for mid to long range combat. It uses burst fire but players can increase firing by simply tapping on the trigger button in quick succession mimics rapid fire. It takes heavy ammo and you can switch to fire mode for increased accuracy.

A huge disadvantage is its small magazine size and its lack of an auto firing mode. It’s frustratingly easy to burn through a magazine particularly when you have bad aim or are having an off day. Guns like this are catered to a precision shot play style. If your style is more pray-and-spray, we’d advise you against selecting this gun.

  1. R-301 Carbine

R-301 Carbine

The R-301 Carbine isn’t hard to come by, as a matter of fact, it’s a pretty frequent drop. But don’t let that fool you into thinking that it isn’t a good weapon. The R-301 is appreciated because of its surprisingly high accuracy and its rapid fire rate. It does have a few cons such as its low magazine size and high recoil.

Top 3 Sniper Rifles

  1. Kraber .50 Cal Sniper

Kraber 50-Cal

Much like the Mastiff shotgun, the Kraber .50 Cal is extremely rare. It’s also the only other weapon that uses a unique un-replenish-able ammo type. Much like the Mastiff, it can be argued that this is one of the most overpowered weapons in the game. So its rarity and ephemeral quality make perfect sense. It can dispense of an enemy with a single shot.

Besides not being able to get extra additional ammunition, or use any attachments, it also has some very lengthy reload times. But still, it’s worth the pick-up, even just for bragging rights alone. Just to tell your friends that you once used to the legendary Kraber .50 Cal to drop a few enemies.

  1. G7 Scout

G7 Scout

The G7 Scout is one of the most versatile weapons on this list. Although it doesn’t deal much damage with a single shot, it makes up for this with its rapid-fire rate. It also has plenty of attachments to choose from. You can customize and mix and match attachments to suit your play style.

  1. Longbow DMR

Longbow DMR

The Longbow is a proper sniper rifle. It takes heavy rounds and holds five shots per magazine. It also has a semi-auto setup much like the G7 Scout. In addition to this, it also includes a litany of attachment options. It delivers faster bullet velocity than the G7 and dishes out more damage. It’s great for mid to long range battles.
